The all woman's league that is a counter partner to the NBA started back in 1997. It is currently composed of 12 teams, 3 of which are located in the largest cities in the U.S., New York , Los Angeles and Chicago. The league is responsible for employing popular players such as Lisa Leslie,Candace Parker and their most recent addition Maya Moore. The WNBA gives females the opportunity to stay in the United States and display their athletic abilities. Prior to the WNBA females had to play overseas in order to fulfill their dreams of playing basketball professionally. If you have not attended a WNBA game I highly suggest doing so, the amount of 3 point shots and dunks are unbelievable. Congrats to all the ladies in the league!!!!
